Meaningful engagement of the community in TB Research & Development: Best practice initiative from UNITE4TB
During this year’s Union World Conference on Lung Health, the UNITE4TB Community Advisory Group (CAG) took part in the Community Connect session, held virtually on Wednesday 9 November. The Group explained how to engage the community in tuberculosis (TB) research and shared what they have achieved so far in UNITE4TB. -

The UNITE4TB Consortium is employing advanced pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic modeling techniques and artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML) techniques in its quest to select, test and deliver novel combination treatment regimens for drug-resistant and -sensitive TB. -
Clinical trial preparations in Vietnam
Consortium partner, Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (OUCRU) in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam, was delighted to continue preparations for the UNITE4TB clinical trials with a visit in July from Professor Nguyen Viet Nhung, Director of Vietnam’s National TB Programme, and Professor Michael Hoelscher & Dr Norbert Heinrich from LMU, our Consortium partner in Munich, Germany. -

UNITE4TB hopes to act as a global forum for the exchange of knowledge and best practices with key stakeholders in tuberculosis (TB) drug research and development (R&D). It is our objective to work with these stakeholders to explore and implement synergies and collaborations. -
The UNITE4TB Community Advisory Group: Voice of the TB community
A core body within UNITE4TB is the Community Advisory Group (CAG), established to ensure meaningful engagement with people affected by tuberculosis (TB) so that the views of the TB community are heard and considered throughout the project. The group comprises members from across the world with lived experience of TB and/or proficiency in working with TB communities. -
Year-1 highlights from the UNITE4TB project leads

UNITE4TB held its third public webinar on Thursday 7 July, with a focus on the recent changes in the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines for the treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) and an evaluation of the evidence underpinning the shortening of TB treatment for both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant disease. -
