UNITE4TB welcomes the ENABLE study to its expanding clinical trial program
The UNITE4TB Consortium is pleased to announce that the ENABLE study is the latest trial to be added to its growing clinical trial program, reaffirming the project’s commitment to advancing tuberculosis (TB) treatment through innovative research.
The ENABLE study is a Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating the early bacterial activity, safety, and tolerability of alpibectir-ethionamide (AlpE) in combination with first-line TB drugs. This marks an important milestone for both the Consortium and TB research in general, as it is the first time AlpE is being tested in a 14-day early bactericidal activity (EBA) clinical trial in combination with first-line drugs.
The study is being conducted under the collaboration between BioVersys and GSK, with clinical trial implementation led by TASK. The goal is to optimize dosing and confirm the safety of the AlpE regimen, contributing to future treatment strategies for TB, including drug-resistant forms of the disease.
UNITE4TB launched its clinical trial program at the end of 2023 with the PARADIGM4TB and DECISION trials, both of which are making significant progress in evaluating novel drug regimens for TB1. With the addition of ENABLE, UNITE4TB continues to drive innovation in TB drug development, supporting its mission to find more effective, shorter, and safer treatments.
