New publications from the UNITE4TB Consortium

News News

The UNITE4TB Consortium continues to disseminate project results with two new impactful publications.

The first publication, titled “Developing biomarker assays to accelerate tuberculosis drug development: defining target product profiles,” was published in The Lancet, Microbe. Morten Ruhwald, contributing author from UNITE4TB partner FIND, emphasized the significance of the study: “This was a big effort by the UNITE4TB biomarker team, which will aid future early- and late-stage drug trials and ultimately enable shorter, faster trials with biomarker endpoints."

The second publication, “Towards comprehensive clinical trials for new tuberculosis drug regimens: policy recommendations from a stakeholder analysis,” was published in BMJ Global Health. Conducted by the Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Health Science team at the University of Milan – a partner of UNITE4TB – this study addresses the gaps that exist in tuberculosis (TB) research and development. It specifically focuses on the challenges of accessing emerging TB innovations in low- and middle-income countries with high rates of TB.
